New Products and News from Morse Express October 20th, 2007 THE HEADLINES... -- Our 2007 Christmas Key -- LTA Camelback Key -- New GHD Keys, KITS, and Morse Trainer -- Intelligent 12V Battery Charger ------------------------------------------------------- OUR 2007 CHRISTMAS KEY The 2007 Morse Express Christmas Key is a miniature Marconi style key, with rear contacts and three terminals (for make-break keying). The ebony base is 1x2" and it weighs about 3 Oz. A hand-turned ebony knob tops off the striking design, and the brass parts are plated in 18 carat gold. The Christmas keys are serial numbered and supply is limited to a single production run of 200 keys. The 2007 Christmas Key is $79.95 (plus s/h) and can be ordered direct from our web site at http://www.MorseX.com/xmas ------------------------------------------------------- LTA's Camelback Key LTA has released a 19th century replica "camelback" key, model AMCC. The camelback, or hump in the lever, is characteristic of early land-line telegraph keys and the original reason for the hump is lost in the mists of time. One theory is that on some early key a straight lever would not have left room for contact or spring clearance. Another is that a key was made with a scrap piece of iron or brass, and the look was copied for stylistic reasons only. And another was that the additional material in the lever added mass, making precision operation easier. Whatever the original reason, the LTA camelback keyey is beautiful natural brass on a polished oak base. LT-AMCC $89.95 http://www.MorseX.com/lta/#camel ------------------------------------------------------- New GHD Keys, KITS, and Morse Trainer Japanese keymaker GHD has introduced several new keys, including a bent-lever version of the GT-501 which many regard as the best key in production today. The new GT-501MIL features a distinctive red knob which can be used comfortably with either the American or European sending style, micrometric contact adjustment, aircraft quality trunnion bearings, and deep mirror-finsih chrome plating. Also new are the KIT KEYS. Model GT-706KIT straight key and GN-817KIT dual paddle are possibly the best keys ever available in kit form. That's because the critical work (lever/bearing/trunnion assembly) is done in GHD's factory. The base is painted metallic silver, and detailed instructions are provided. GHD's introductory price for the new kits is only $149.95. GHD's Morse Training Unit could be described as the ultimate code practice oscillator. It has a large, amplfied speaker, and includes an electronic keyer with memory! The perfect way to improve your paddle, bug, or straight key technique, and it can't be beat in the classroom or demonstration situation. Finally, we have found an intelligent charger, at a reasonable price. The 3P10 charger uses a charging "algorithm" with three stages-- high, constant current (.7A), top-up voltage 14.75V, and finally 13.75V float charge. An LED indicates charging status, and the unit has convenient aligator clips for connection to most any battery. Power it from any AC source, 90-264 VAC, 50/60 Hz MD-3P10 $17.95 http://www.MorseX.com/dcpower --------------------------------------------------- As always, pictures and more information about the products mentioned above can be found on the Morse Express web site at http://www.MorseX.com Please use our secure on-line ordering facilities or call 1-877-DOT DASH (877-368- 3274) TOLL FREE to order by phone.
